Re2O Skin Booster: Benefits, Results and Side Effects
Re2O is a skin booster made from human-derived dermal matrix. It replenishes structural components of the skin, such as collagen and elastin, directly in the dermis.
We consider it for loss of firmness and density, enlarged pores, rough skin texture and fine lines. We use a cannula for the under-eye area and either a needle or a cannula for other areas of the face. We usually recommend 2–3 sessions, 1–2 months apart.

What is Re2O?
Re2O is a skin booster derived from human dermis and made up of collagen, elastin and other structural components.
Skin boosters work in different ways: some add moisture, some support skin renewal, and some stimulate collagen production. Re2O delivers extracellular matrix (ECM) components directly into the dermis.
Cell and animal studies also suggest that Re2O may support new collagen formation.

Who is Re2O suited to?
Because Re2O replenishes the skin’s structure, we mainly consider it for skin that has lost firmness and density.
Vertically elongated pores
These often go hand in hand with reduced firmness, and you may notice pores becoming less prominent.
Skin that feels thinner and less firm
The aim is to improve firmness and density.
Rough texture with fine lines
You may see smoother texture and shallower fine lines.
Skin may also look more hydrated, and pigmentation may lighten. A small clinical study published in 2026 reported changes in several skin measures among 20 participants, including firmness, density, pores, wrinkle depth, hydration and pigmentation. Results vary, though, depending on your skin and the technique used.

Why does Re2O preparation matter?
Re2O comes as a powder, so it has to be rehydrated thoroughly before treatment. If the powder is not properly rehydrated, visible lumps may form under the skin. That’s why we carefully check that the product is thoroughly and evenly prepared before we treat you.

Pain varies a lot from person to person, so we choose the anesthesia method based on how sensitive you are to it. Please tell us about any concerns at your consultation.

Bruising and injection marks vary from person to person, and if you’re concerned, we can use a cannula. If you have an important event coming up, please tell us when you book.
Re2O sessions, when results appear and how long they last
How many sessions, and how far apart?
We usually recommend 2–3 sessions, 1–2 months apart. We adjust the interval and number of sessions to your skin type and how satisfied you are with the results.
When do Re2O results start to show?
Some people notice a change as early as 2–3 weeks after treatment. The timing and degree of change vary from person to person.
How long do Re2O results last?
After three sessions, results are sometimes said to last about 6 months to 1 year. A 2026 clinical study followed participants for 20 weeks (about 5 months). How long results last depends on your skin, the amount used and how you respond, so we decide the timing of your next treatment by checking how your skin responds.
Is Re2O safe? Side effects and nodule concerns
- 1Where does the material come from?It is human-derived tissue. The cells are removed, so the chance of an allergic reaction is relatively low. If you’ve ever had a hypersensitivity reaction to an injectable treatment or a biologic product, please tell us before treatment.
- 2How long has this type of material been used?Human dermal grafts of the same type have been used for decades in burn and reconstructive surgery. Using the material as a powder in the dermis of the face for cosmetic treatment is relatively new, however, and long-term data are still accumulating.
- 3What reactions can occur after treatment?Swelling, bruising, redness, injection marks and pain can occur. Most are temporary, but their severity and recovery time vary from person to person.
- 4Can nodules form after Re2O?A powder product can look lumpy under the skin. If lumps do appear, we check the cause and treat them according to your condition, which may include a saline injection. Nodules that are red, painful and warm have also been reported.
Contact us right away if pain, redness or warmth keeps getting worse, you notice unusual changes in skin color, or you develop a red, painful, warm lump.

When can I wash my face, wear makeup and exercise after treatment?
You can wash your face and do light exercise on the day of treatment. We advise wearing only light makeup from the next day, and avoiding peels and scrubs for about a week.
